This is an EXTREMELY RARE piece of film/television/science fiction history and memorabilia... The complete run of show and script for the SCIENCE FICTION FILM AWARDS that was held on Saturday, January 14, 1978 televised on Saturday, January 21, 1978. This is the show where WILLIAM SHATNER performed his legendary rendition of Elton John's ROCKET MAN. This show was actually the 5th Annual SATURN AWARDS (the show was later renamed simply, the Saturn Awards). The show was held at the long-gone COCOANUT GROVE at the AMBASSADOR HOTEL in Los Angeles and hosted by Shatner and KAREN BLACK. This script includes all the scripted introductions, announcement and banter by all the presenters and guests, and has a FULL TRANSCRIPT of Shatner's Rocket Man performance. Presenters include (as listed in the script). BERNIE TAUPIN, songwriter of "Rocket Man" introduces WILLIAM SHATNER to perform it. QUINCY JONES pays tribute and presents an award to JOHN WILLIAMS. Astronauts BUZZ ALDRIN and PETE CONRAD announce Best Science Fiction Film, which includes STAR WARS among the nominees it won!

This script is 83 pages and is covered in blue cardstock covers, printed on 3-hole punch paper bound with two fasteners. Minor wear, crease to upper right corner of front cover and a piece of tape is affixed to spine at center of script. Please examine the photos and inquire with any questions.
